This national historic landmark was built in 1906 and achieved notoriety as the first building with a steel structure in Chicago. It houses 200 of our students and is located at State and Madison Streets at 7 West Madison, the exact center of the city. The corner of State and Madison was historically known in the early 20th century as the world's busiest intersection. Jones Hall is also located a short distance from Chicago's latest architectural accomplishment, Millennium Park. Jones Hall has a studio (dry & wet material spaces), computer lab, laundry room, and bike storage.

The 162 North State Street Residences is truly in the heart of Chicago's world-class theater district, surrounded by Chicago Theatre, the Goodman Theatre, and the Oriental Theatre. Also located at the first floor of the residence hall is SAIC's own Gene Siskel Film Center. An architectural achievement in itself, the 162 North State Street Residences is a combination of new construction and an existing 1906 structure. Also similar to the Jones Hall, formerly known as the Chicago Building, the 162 North State Street Residences is just a short walk to Millennium Park. 162 North State Street has a studio (dry & wet material spaces), spray booth, computer lab, media lounge, fitness center, 2 laundry rooms, and bike storage.

The Buckingham offers residents an urban living experience in a modern high-rise building located in the heart of Chicago. It boasts the vintage charm of a 1929 Art Deco National Landmark building, renovated with all of the modern amenities today's students expect in high-end living. Apartment-style living, all-inclusive amenities, proximity to The School's academic buildings and 24/7 secure access are what make the Buckingham a perfect addition to on-campus housing at SAIC. There are two Buckingham options available to all students: shared bedroom and private bedroom. The shared bedroom includes a bedroom with 2 beds, in a shared apartment. The private bedroom includes a bedroom with 1 bed, in a shared apartment. Both options include 2-5 residents in one full apartment.
