Alums Wafaa Bilal, Jules Rosskam, and Martine Syms Receive Creative Capital Awards
Several School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) alums—Wafaa Bilal (MFA 2003), Jules Rosskam (MFA 2008), and Martine Syms (BFA 2007)—are recipients of 2021 Creative Capital Awards. In this cycle, 35 projects were given up to $50,000 in funding, with career support provided to each of the artists working on them. The award aims to foster sustainable practices for recipients, and this year Creative Capital received over 4,000 applications.
In celebration of alum Georgia O’Keeffe: My New Yorks opening current SAIC students were invited to submit artworks inspired by O’keeffe and the city of Chicago.
