Shengze Zhu and Jennifer Reeder's Films Included on Tribune's Must See List

SAIC alums and filmmakers, Jennifer Reeder (MFA 1996) and Shengze Zhu (MFA 2017) were mentioned in Chicago Tribune’s list of top 10 films to see at the Chicago International Film Festival this year, which opens on October 16.

Reeder’s film, Knives and Skin, “turns a young girl’s small-town disappearance into an eerie reverie on female adolescence, with dashes of David Lynch”, the article states. Zhu’s film, Present. Perfect., “follows two dozen Chinese citizens in their online lives as live-streaming online hosts of their own lives, interacting with viewers, scrambling to make a living, fending off boredom, striving for connection” the article states. Zhu’s film took the top prize at the Rotterdam International Film Festival in the Netherlands and is also showing as part of Conversations at the Edge on October 31 at the Gene Siskel Film Center.
