SAIC Faculty Receive Inaugural "Leaders for a New Chicago" Awards from Field Foundation
The Field Foundation named 14 recipients of its inaugural "Leaders for a New Chicago" awards, reports the Chicago Tribune. Assistant Professor of Art Education Sarah Ross and Lecturer J. Gibran Villalobos (Dual MA 2015, Arts Administration and Policy) who were among the winners will receive $25,000 individually and $25,000 for their organizations. Ross is founder and codirector of Prison + Neighborhood Arts Project, which collaborates with incarcerated artists and writers, and Villalobos is partnership and engagement liaison with the Museum of Contemporary Art, focused on developing relationships with community-based organizations and artists. President of the Field Foundation Angelique Power (MFA 1998) said of the recipients, “We aren’t finding these leaders, they’re already leaders. We’re just giving them capital and handing the megaphone over so that they can continue to shape the city that we all want to see tomorrow." Read about all 14 winners on the Chicago Tribune's website.
