Katherine Young and Lou Mallozzi to tour France in Antichamber Music quartet.
Antichamber Music is an improvising quartet that includes SAIC Sound faculty members Katherine Young (bassoon + electronics) and Lou Mallozzi (turntables + mixer), with French musicians Benoît Delbecq (piano), and Claudia Solal (voice). The quartet has a 2-week tour in France that begins in Tours on February 8 and includes performances in Vitrolles, Saint-Anasthasie, Albi, Avignon, Toulouse, Nantes, Bordeaux, Paris, Lyon, Poitiers, and Brest. The quartet was formed under the auspices of The Bridge, a Paris-based organization that supports collaborations among musicians in Chicago and France in the fields of improvised music and jazz.
In celebration of alum Georgia O’Keeffe: My New Yorks opening current SAIC students were invited to submit artworks inspired by O’keeffe and the city of Chicago.
