Ann Lui Named One of Crain's Chicago Business 40 under 40

SAIC Assistant Professor of Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Designed Objects Ann Lui was recently named one of Chicago’s 40 Under 40 by Crain’s Chicago Business. Lui is also the cofounder of Future Firm, a South Side architecture and design practice and was chosen as the cocurator representing the United States at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale.

As cocurator Lui commissioned seven original installations from Studio Gang architects, design studio DS+R and visual artist Amanda Williams for the exhibit Dimensions of Citizenship which will soon be on display at Wrightwood 659 gallery in Lincoln Park. Lui’s own work is focused on inclusive design and according to founder of Studio Gang Jeanne Gang (HON 2013) she has a special talent for bringing together diverse practices. “I hoped to see the profession of architecture be further along in terms of equity and inclusion and in ways of dealing with questions of equity and inclusion at this point,” Lui told Crain’s Chicago Business. “That is a project we all need to work on and in which I hope to be a key voice in the coming years.”
