Gibran Villalobos Participates in National Arts Advocacy Day in Washington, DC

SAIC faculty member in the Department of Arts Administration and Policy Gibran Villalobos (Dual MA 2015) recently attended National Arts Advocacy Day in Washington, DC, on March 12–13 as a representative of Arts Alliance Illinois. Hosted by Americans for the Arts in partnership with more than 85 national arts organizations, the two-day event brings together arts advocates from across the country for interactive advocacy training and peer-to-peer learning and networking. Along with other advocates Villalobos attended the Nancy Hanks Lecture on Arts & Public Policy at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. On the second day, advocates had the chance to go to Congress and sit with their senators and representatives to speak about the impact and power that the arts have in the world and their support of specific arts initiatives.
