Chicago Tribune Shines Light on Aram Han Sifuentes' Protest Banner Lending Library

You won't find books in Aram Han Sifuentes' (MFA 2013) library. After the 2016 election, the Liberal Arts and Fiber and Material Studies faculty member started the Protest Banner Lending Library. While Sifuentes, a Korea-born California native, was awaiting the results of her citizenship application, she did not feel safe marching in the streets, so she used her material know-how to make fabric signs for other protestors to carry. "Sifuentes recognized a need," the Chicago Tribune wrote in a recent profile of her. "If protest marches in the Trump Era would be erupting at the speed of Twitter, who'd have the time (and talent) to make a meaningful protest banner?"
