Sanford Biggers Awarded 2017 Rome Prize
Artnews announced the recipients of the 2017 Rome Prize in Visual Arts. Congratulations to Sanford Biggers (MFA 1999) who was one of five recipients of the prestigious award. The Rome Prize Fellowship supports advanced independent work in the arts and humanities within a unique residential community. Each of the awardees receives a residency at the American Academy in Rome, lasting from six months to two years along with a stipend. See a list of all the winners here.
In celebration of alum Georgia O’Keeffe: My New Yorks opening current SAIC students were invited to submit artworks inspired by O’keeffe and the city of Chicago.
