Claes Oldenburg Featured in Artsy
Artsy recently published Claes Oldenburg’s Supersized Pop Sculptures Made Public Art Fun featuring five of Oldenburg’s (SAIC 1950–53, HON 1979) most famous public sculptures. From giant lipstick to a massive cupid’s bow Oldenburg’s work radiates his signature humor. “I am for an art,” Oldenburg wrote in 1961, “that does something other than sit on its ass in a museum.” Read more about Oldenburg’s work at Artsy.
In celebration of alum Georgia O’Keeffe: My New Yorks opening current SAIC students were invited to submit artworks inspired by O’keeffe and the city of Chicago.
