Athanasia Kyriakakos Named Finalist for National Teacher of the Year
Upon receiving glowing recommendations from her peers and community, SAIC alum Athanasia Kyriakakos (MFA 2000) is one of four finalists for this year’s National Teacher of the Year award. Kyriakakos, a Fulbright recipient who has taught all over the world, was described by her principal in the Washington Post as “an internationally award-winning artist who has sacrificed her personal ambitions to share her passion of art with students.” Kyriakakos is currently the Maryland State Teacher of the Year and Balitmore City Teacher of the Year.
In celebration of alum Georgia O’Keeffe: My New Yorks opening current SAIC students were invited to submit artworks inspired by O’keeffe and the city of Chicago.
