SAIC’s Homan Square Initiatives Profiled in South Side Weekly

SAIC continues to be a larger part of critical dialogues concerning art’s transformative power. The School’s three Continuing Studies programs offered to residents of Homan Square were the recent subjects of an article in the South Side Weekly. Among the many interviewees, Jaclyn Jacunski (MFA 2007), research associate at SAIC’s Earl and Brenda Shapiro Center for Research and Collaboration, told the publication that first priority of these courses are to benefit the neighborhood. “With that perspective, it seems fitting that the fourteenth floor of Nichols Tower has windows on all four walls,” writes reporter Elaine Chen, “providing those inside a near 360-degree view of the surrounding community it serves.”
