Print Production as Art Making

For faculty member Dushko Petrovich (New Arts Journalism), publishing is a creative practice. Petrovich runs a small publishing outfit, Paper Monument under the umbrella of n+1. Recently, Paper Monument's collection of artists' writing called Social Medium was highlighted as an editor’s pick by Artnet. Vulture also listed it as one of the best art books of 2016.

Petrovich’s latest project is The Daily Gentrifier, a double-sided broadsheet that will explore the ethical and aesthetic positions of gentrification. While much of the publication will center on New York and San Francisco, a Chicago supplement called The Flyover Flyer will take a closer look at how the creative class impacts Pilsen and Logan Square.
