SAIC Community Members Named in Chicago Reader's People Issue
Three SAIC community members were featured in the Chicago Reader’s 2016 People issue. From chemists to comedians, the Reader has been featuring extraordinary Chicagoans for its People issue since 2011. “When I think about my students’ work, I think they’re brave,” says Assistant Professor in the Department of Contemporary Practices, Maria Gaspar who was named “The Multidisciplinary Artist” in the issue. Alum Deborah Stratman (BFA 1990) is the issue’s “Experimental Documentarian,” and Associate Professor in the Department of Photography LaToya Ruby Frazier was named “The Photographer.”
In celebration of alum Georgia O’Keeffe: My New Yorks opening current SAIC students were invited to submit artworks inspired by O’keeffe and the city of Chicago.
