Alum Featured on VICE Music Issue Cover

Alum Luis Gispert (BFA 1996) and collaborator Jeff Reed recently met with VICE magazine to talk about the photograph the duo contributed to the cover of the music issue VICE released this October. The photograph, taken by Gispert, is part of a larger body of work produced by the pair. As Gispert explained to VICE, “The cover image ‘BB Matrix’ was part of a larger project called Stereomongrel that debuted at the Whitney Museum. It was basically a ten-minute film and a suite of large-format photographs that captured scenes and characters that were not seen in the film. These weren't outtakes, but actual set pieces designed to be their own photographs.” Stereomongrel was completed by Gispert and Reed in 2005 and has been screened and exhibited internationally.
