Faculty Member to Create Art for CTA Station
Mathew Wilson (Contemporary Practices) has been given the opportunity to create a work of art at the Diversey CTA station in Lincoln Park. Wilson, who is part of the ongoing collaborative project Industry of Ordinary, will have the work focus on the experience of immigration. As he explained to DNA Info, “I wanted to make a piece that talks to how people change when they move, when they emigrate or when they get displaced.” Wilson, a Chicago native, expects the piece to take six months to a year to realize.
In celebration of alum Georgia O’Keeffe: My New Yorks opening current SAIC students were invited to submit artworks inspired by O’keeffe and the city of Chicago.
