The Independent Spotlights Former SAIC Student
UK newspaper The Independent recently featured former SAIC student, Julie Houts and her illustration work. Houts is a designer at J.Crew, but moonlights as an illustrator, crafting humorous responses to everything from modern dating to unbecoming habits. The piece is titled “The illustrator whose work perfectly sums up how exhausting modern love is.”
Houts boasts more than 80,000 Instagram followers. Her art has been featured in Vogue and popular fashion blog Man Repeller. Houts studied at SAIC before moving to New York to study fashion design.
In celebration of alum Georgia O’Keeffe: My New Yorks opening current SAIC students were invited to submit artworks inspired by O’keeffe and the city of Chicago.
