Chicago Gallery News Talks Art, Education, and Feminism with Lisa Wainwright

Chicago Gallery News recently caught up with SAIC’s Dean of Faculty and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Lisa Wainwright, to tap into her “fountain of knowledge on the ins and outs of the local art scene,” as well as get her thoughts on the global creative community.

Originally from Miami, Wainwright came to the Chicago area 27 years ago. Though she doesn't teach as frequently these days, her courses have offered an engaging feminist perspective. She told the Chicago Gallery News, “I’m pretty much an angry feminist when it comes to the history of art. Too many images of objectified women, and not enough women artists.”
