Susan Giles Named Hyde Park Art Center Chicago Resident Artist

Hyde Park Art Center, one of Chicago’s most important incubators or the visual arts, recently named Susan Giles (MA 1997) its 2014–15 Chicago Resident Artist. Over the next year, Giles will work in the Art Center’s studios to create a large-scale installation that will continue her practice as an "investigation into tourism, architecture and the physicality of place," according to a release. Her series of large wooden sculptures will "alter our perception of some of the tallest skyscrapers in the world as a way of understanding buildings as key signifiers of place and identity."
