A Lived Practice Generates Media Buzz

"A Lived Practice," one of the largest and most comprehensive program series organized on social practice, kicked off with the opening of A Proximity of Consciousness: Art and Social Action in SAIC’s Sullivan Galleries on Saturday September 20. Speaking about the series and social practice with Art 21, SAIC's Executive Director of Exhibitions and Exhibition Studies Mary Jane Jacob offered advice to artists who want to affect social change. In his column in The Huffington Post EXPO Chicago President Tony Karman included the series as a cohesive part of the art and culture events surrounding EXPO Chicago that should not be missed. The Chicagoist takes a look at must-see concurrent exhibitions and about A Proximity of Consciousness, writer Carrie McGath says, "SAIC is known for their unique exhibitions and this one will not be an exception."
