SAIC Alum Opens a Design Shop in Chelsea, NYC
Moss closed its doors in 2012, leaving a void in New York City's design and aesthetic landscape. Hoping to fill that void is former Moss employee and SAIC alum Juan Garcia Mosqueda (BFA 2010) who has just opened the doors to Chamber, a design boutique in Chelsea. A unique feature of this shop will be changes in curators every two years. In conversation with W magazine Mosqueda said “I felt it was more interesting to involve various perspectives on collecting. If it was only my vision, I’d probably get bored after a couple of years.” The debut collection features Dutch designs, paying homage to Mosqueda's obsession with Droog while at SAIC.
In celebration of alum Georgia O’Keeffe: My New Yorks opening current SAIC students were invited to submit artworks inspired by O’keeffe and the city of Chicago.
