SAIC Artists Participate in "Awesome, Incredibly Odd" Projects in Chicago

SAIC alum and current faculty member Jason Foumberg (Fiber and Material Studies) says in a recent Chicago Magazine article that "Chicago's art scene is much more than just the Art Institute and the MCA," and highlights ongoing projects by three SAIC artists. Included is Orihon by faculty member Tim Burtonwood (Contemporary Practices, New Arts Journalism, Arts Administration and Policy), which is a 3D-printed book of art masterpieces for the visually impaired to experience the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Met in New York. Faculty Claire Pentecost's (Photography) Standard Spoil is a collection of etched marble from Aon Tower, and exhibited at the Threewalls Gallery. Jesus by the Lake, by Industry of the Ordinary is the third featured project. Co-produced by alum Adam Brooks (MFA 1989), the project hopes to document each of the 10,000 individuals named Jesus in the Chicago area.
