SAIC Students Engage Community with Portraits of Resolution
The Chicago Tribune recently covered the community art project Portraits of Resolution carried out by SAIC Master of Arts in Art Education students William Estrada and Erica Brooks, in collaboration with Anthony Rea. In the video, Brooks and Estrada speak about the idea for the project coming out of 96 Acres and about talks of access to family portraits. The artists took more than 100 portraits of community members outside the Cook County Jail, engaging them to think critically of the effects of the jail in their community, and incarceration in general.
In celebration of alum Georgia O’Keeffe: My New Yorks opening current SAIC students were invited to submit artworks inspired by O’keeffe and the city of Chicago.
