New York Times Highlights Alum's "Solo-ish" Show
SAIC alum Joseph Silovsky (1991–93) is putting up a a "solo-ish" show, Send for the Million Men at the Here Arts Center in New York City this month. According to the New York Times, the show is about the trial and execution of Sacco and Vanzetti in the 1920s and will "relate strange but true stories using a wealth of machines typically packed into battered suitcases." One of the stars of the show is Stanley, a robot Silovsky not only made himself, but one which lives with him as well. Silovsky calls himself “totally self-taught,” having never taken a traditional theater class or one in mechanical or electrical engineering. Send for the Million Men also includes a gallery exhibition and runs through December 20.
