SAIC Alum Wins a 2015 Joyce Award

SAIC alum Sanford Biggers (MFA 1999) was one of four artists to receive a 2015 Joyce Award. The prestigious prize from the Joyce Foundation recognizes artists of color who collaborate with nonprofit arts and cultural organizations in the Great Lakes region. Each winner receives $50,000 to support the creation of community-based works. Biggers plans to partner with the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) to create a work called Subjective Cosmology, a multidisciplinary effort to engage Detroit musicians and artists in a series of performances, programs, and community projects. The yearlong series will culminate in an exhibition at MOCAD in the fall of 2016.
