New York Times Spotlights SAIC Alum’s Work at the Walker Art Center

The New York Times featured the work of Martine Syms (BFA 2007) at the new conceptual art pop-up store that will be unveiled Thursday at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. The shop, Intangibles, is a digital bazaar and exhibition of original artworks that blurs the boundaries between art, shopping, and media. Syms, a Los Angeles-based “conceptual entrepreneur,” will contribute to the gift shop in the form of voicemail recorded on the device of her buying public, accompanied by an online blurb. According the New York Times, for Syms, “multimedia is simply a language she grew up speaking, and digital tools are a source of freedom.”
