Art & Education Highlights SAIC’s Distinct Educational Model
Art & Education recently profiled SAIC, spotlighting a few of the departments within the school to provide a case study of the school’s educational model. Art & Education spoke with David Getsy, Chair of SAIC’s Department of Art History, Theory, and Criticism, about how “the fusion of theory and practice at SAIC makes art historians a crucial resource at the school.” The story notes the unique history of SAIC as a museum school, the power of critical language, and social practice at SAIC, and the school’s ability to foster innovations in many forms. Speaking with students about SAIC’s pedagogical structure and philosophy, the website examines the role of the critique environment at SAIC.
