F Newsmagazine Receives Awards from Student Society for News Design
The Student Society for News Design has recognized F Newsmagazine with the first place award for Overall Design of Magazine. In the same competition, SAIC student Anna Smylie (MFA 2015) was awarded First Place in the category of Designer of the Year. This national competition is hosted by the student organization of the Society for News Design, the professional association for newspaper and magazine designers, and is judged by prominent designers. Many SAIC students also received additional awards in the individual categories of Illustration, Features Page Design, Features, Photo Story Design, Alternative Story Format, and Cover of a Magazine or Newspaper Special Section. In celebration of alum Georgia O’Keeffe: My New Yorks opening current SAIC students were invited to submit artworks inspired by O’keeffe and the city of Chicago.
