Cheryl Pope Discusses Art and Boxing on Windy City Live

Interdisciplinary artist and SAIC faculty member, Cheryl Pope (MDes 2010), spoke with the hosts of Windy City Live, for their new segment, “My Double Life,” where they feature Chicagoans successful in their careers with a passion unknown to many. Pope teaches in both the Fashion and Contemporary Practices departments at SAIC and is an artist in residence at the Chicago Cultural Center. Pope’s other passion is boxing. She won the Chicago Golden Gloves in 2014 and teaches boxing at Franklin Street Boxing.

As part of her residency, Pope has organized a movement called “Just Yell – Poetry as Self Defense.” Pope’s current exhibition, Just Yell: From Within, is a collaboration with young Chicago poets, on view at the Poetry Foundation until August 28.
