DNAinfo Profiles Outdoor Gallery Started by SAIC Alum and Faculty Member Edra Soto

DNAinfo profiles The Franklin, an outdoor gallery started by Contemporary Practices instructor Edra Soto (MFA 2000). Soto and her husband, Dan Sullivan, began showing art in the backyard of their Garfield Park home in 2012, beginning with an installation titled Living by Example, where Sullivan built an open shed that housed Soto’s work. The shed is still used to exhibit monthly shows by artists from the surrounding area as well as from Puerto Rico and Europe. The Franklin, 3522 West Franklin Boulevard, holds an open house from 2:00–5:00 p.m. every Saturday.
