SAIC Alum to Open Retail Store in West Loop
Maria Pinto (BFA 1990), lauded as one of Michelle Obama’s favorite designers, is set to open a new retail store to showcase her M2057 line in Chicago’s West Loop. Featured in WWD, Pinto says, “The collection is about this urban modern woman so the store has this modern vibe. It’s very minimal. Think more of an art gallery space than a clothing store.” In light of the upcoming Chicago Architecture Biennial, Pinto will design a limited-edition, six-piece collection inspired by the architect Jeanne Gang. The retail store is scheduled to open in November.
