The Chicago Reader describes SAIC’s 150th Aniversary alumni show as “pulling out the big guns.” Curated by SAIC faculty members Scott and Tyson Reeder, Civilization and Its Discontents features work by former SAIC students including Jeff Koons (1975–76, HON 2008), Tony Tasset (MFA 1985), Rashid Johnson (SAIC 2003–04), Rebecca Morris (MFA 1994), Chris Ware (SAIC 1991–93), Amanda Ross-Ho (BFA 1998), Angel Otero (BFA 2007, MFA 2009), Tony Lewis (MFA 2012), Aspen Mays (MFA 2009), Carrie Schneider (MFA 2007), Zak Prekop (MFA 2008), and more.

The Chicago Reader also mentions Sarah Vowell's (MA 1999) upcoming visit to SAIC where she will read from her new book, Lafayette in the Somewhat United States as part of the Chicago Humanities Festival. "You can't beat Sarah Vowell for quirky chronicles of American history's dark side," says the Reader.
