Drake Borrows from James Turrell's Work. Turrell Flattered.
Drake’s newest music video Hotline Bling makes stark reference to the light installations of James Turrell (HON 1999). Hyperallergic offers a compendium of comparisons between Turrell’s works and shots from the video. Gizmodo reports Drake’s admission of Turell’s creative influence, saying, “I f*ck with Turrell. He was a big influence on the visuals for my last tour.” Turrell responds, “While I am truly flattered to learn that Drake f*cks with me, I nevertheless wish to make clear that neither I nor any of my woes was involved in any way in the making of the Hotline Bling video.”
