SAIC Alum's Film Makes Site-Specific Thai Debut

Jakrawal Nilthamrong (MFA 2006) revived an old porn cinema for the Thai debut of his award-winning Vanishing Point. Vanishing Point first premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in January, winning the Hivos Tiger Award. Nilthamrong, who was raised in Thailand, wanted to highlight the country’s need to preserve its old-fashioned theaters. The chosen site, Laem Thong, took months of refurbishing for the one-night premier.
