VICE Interviews SAIC Alumni About “I’m Making a Boy Band” Project

Bora Kim (BFA 2013), Karin Kuroda (BAVCS 2014), and Samantha Shao spoke with Vice’s Mark Hay about their project I’m Making a Boy Band. Bora Kim, an SAIC alum and MFA student at Columbia University, was inspired by the K-pop phenomenon and wanted to document and conduct the transformation of American performers into a K-Pop boy band. Boys were chosen through an audition process and put through K-pop training, including sessions called “Cuteness Workshops.” The group made their debut at the Columbia University MFA Thesis Show in April.
