Chicago Magazine's Power 50 List Features Many With SAIC Ties
Chicago Magazine says that their 2016 Power 50 list of most influential Chicagoans is a shake up this year, and SAIC is well-represented on the list. Architect Jeanne Gang (HON 2013) takes the 12th spot and Theaster Gates (HON 2014) comes in at number 23. Gates is internationally known for his work on the South Side of Chicago, including Dorchester Projects, Black Cinema House, the Stony Island Arts Bank, and the Dorchester Artists Housing Collaborative. Additionally, Art Institute of Chicago donors Stefan Edlis and Gael Neeson make the list, as well as Board of Trustee members Neil Bluhm, Fred Eychaner, Ken Griffin, Joe Mansueto, Michael Sacks, and Frederick Waddell.
In celebration of alum Georgia O’Keeffe: My New Yorks opening current SAIC students were invited to submit artworks inspired by O’keeffe and the city of Chicago.
