SAIC President Contributes to Major Discovery
SAIC President Walter E. Massey, past Director of the National Science Foundation, played a seminal role in the foundation's recent observation of gravitational waves, a scientific discovery confirming Albert Einstein's 1915 general theory of relativity. His distinguished accomplishments in the science field before he came to SAIC were featured and acknowledged by Crain’s Chicago Business. In the early 1990s during his time as the Director of the National Science Foundation, he championed the controversial $205 million research project which resulted in a massive discovery that Einstein once predicted 100 years before. President Massey will retire from SAIC in June and remain part-time Chancellor.
