SAIC’s Andres Hernandez chosen for Pulitzer design-build commission.

The Pulitzer Arts Foundation and the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts announced Andres Hernandez (MA 2004) and Amanda Williams as the 2016–17 winners of the PXSTL, a design-build project competition with aims of urban transformation through the arts. The two were awarded the commission to transform a vacant lot into a temporary structure for the purposes of community engagement. In addition, the two will teach an architecture studio course at the Sam Fox School’s Graduate School of Architecture & Urban Design, in which students will collaborate in the design and implementation of this project. The structure will be completed in spring of 2017 and programming will begin that summer.
