Alum Joe Sedelmaier to Be Inducted Into Advertising Hall of Fame

SAIC alum Joe Sedelmaier (BFA 1955) will become the newest member of the Advertising Hall of Fame when the organization inducts him on April 11, 2016, at the Waldorf Astoria in New York. With a directing career that spans multiple decades, Sedelmaier might not be a household name, but his comedic work—including Wendy’s “Where’s The Beef?” campaign—is iconic.

A recent article in the Chicago Business Journal highlights Sedelmaier’s connection with with the city and highlights the major role he plays in television marketing. “No one could ever dispute that Sedelmaier had a knack—unequalled before or since,” writes Lewis Lazare, “for casting television commercials and then finding a way to maximize the comedic aspects in countless TV spots he made.” Like other SAIC alumni, Sedelmaier forged his own path and continues to light the way for up and coming innovators in his field.
