New Novel by SAIC Faculty Featured in Chicago Magazine

Chicago magazine highlighted a new novel from SAIC faculty member Jesse Ball (Writing) as one if its “Six Chicago-Centric Books to Read this Summer.”

How to Set a Fire and Why centers on the adolescent life of Lucia, a teenage girl with one parent institutionalized and the other dead. Lucia finds herself living with her impoverished aunt and too smart for her own good. She feels adrift and alienated from her peers, until she discovers her new school’s secret extracurricular activity, Arson Club, and the world she knew goes up in flames. How to Set a Fire and Why is Ball’s fourteenth book and will be released on July 5.
