SAIC Alums Round Out This Year’s Fulbright Awards

SAIC continues its reputation for producing Fulbright Scholars with this year’s crop of awardees. Tasked with the program’s mission of promoting “international goodwill through the exchange of students in the fields of education, culture, and science,” Sarah Kirsten Williams (MFA 2014) and Nicholas Merlock Johnson (BFA 2011) will both embark on respective projects that cross borders and cultures.

For Williams, this means studying “music composition and alternative notation in Germany, with focus on German Romantic Era composers, from a sculptural perspective.” Johnson proposed a comics journalism project detailing “first-hand experiences of Ukraine’s Euromaidan protests.” The two alums follow last year’s SAIC recipients: Heather Beardsley (MFA 2015) and Brendan Hudson (MAAE 2015, BFA 2009).
