SAIC Alum Apichatpong Weerasethakul Earning International Recognition

SAIC alumni often make headlines with their innovative projects, and this is certainly true of Apichatpong Weerasethakul (MFA 1998), whose latest film Cemetery of Splendor continues to capture audiences from around the world. “It’s this tension—or cross-pollination—between art and cinema that seems to lie at the heart of Weerasethakul’s work,” writes the Guardian. When making a feature-length film such as this, Weeraselthakul says “you are leading the audience by the hand. In order for them to follow, you need to use the established rules.”
