Nick Cave Featured in New York Times for Monumental New Sculpture
Stephanie and Bill Sick Professor of Fashion, Body and Garment Nick Cave was recently featured in the New York Times for his latest work, Amalgam (Origin), a nearly 26-foot-tall bronze sculpture unveiled at Jack Shainman Gallery’s new flagship in TriBeCa. Known for his Soundsuits and explorations of Black identity, Cave’s latest work integrates detailed floral and natural motifs while incorporating scans of his own body. This monumental piece marks a significant evolution in Cave’s artistic practice, aligning with his career-long exploration of race, identity, and materiality.
