Cat Bluemke uses game design, performance and collaboration to explore the distribution and conflicts of capital and its relationship with technology. Through researching the role of design in the social contract of work, she questions how one may organize the working subject in today’s technological ecosystem. Reflecting on the models of arts organization, she has co-managed the Toronto-based art collective Tough Guy Mountain since 2013 with over a dozen members; and collaboratively ran the artist-run-centre The Brandscape since 2016, providing PWYC workshops and studio rentals in Toronto. Her work has been exhibited internationally at venues such as Kunsternes Hus (Norway), 16th Venice Architecture Biennale (Italy), The Power Plant (TO), Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago), and the Art Gallery of Ontario (TO).
