Alum Grace DuVal Wins Top Prize at 2024 World of Wearable Art

New Zealand’s World of Wearable Art Awards (WOW) awarded the 2024 Supreme WOW Award to School of the Art Institute of Chicago alum Grace DuVal (MFA 2015) for her electrifying high-visibility creation Curves Ahead. Inspired by New Zealand’s Kaikōura earthquake recovery, DuVal’s garment, crafted from reflective construction signs and topped with a road-cone headpiece, celebrates resilience and renewal. The WOW judges praised Curves Ahead for its “visually electrifying, vividly beautiful” design and DuVal’s technical skill in fusing neon roadwork aesthetics with natural motifs.
