  • When is my space secured?
After we receive your application and have verified your internship, we will prepare and send you a personalized lease agreement. Once you have signed and returned your lease and made your $500 prepayment, you will receive a confirmation of space from SAIC Residence Life for the dates you indicated.

    What is the minimum stay?
Interns must have an internship lasting at least eight weeks and must commit to stay in the residence hall for at least eight weeks. Please contact us directly if you would like to request an exception to this policy. Call Residence Life at 312.629.6870 or email summerinternhousing@saic.edu.

    What is the maximum stay?
Interns must be employed at their internship for the entire duration of their stay. An intern can stay in the 162 N. State St. Residences for the entire length of our intern housing season or for the entire length of their employment, whichever is less.

When will I be notified of my specific space?
You will receive notification approximately one week before your stay begins.

When is the rent due and how to I pay?
Rent is due the day you arrive for the remainder of that month. For subsequent months, rent is due on the first of the month for the weeks you will be living at SAIC in that month (i.e. if your internship ends on July 22, you owe three weeks rent on July 1). SAIC does not require a housing deposit. Visit the summer housing payment portal to make your payment.

When can I move in and move out?
Interns can move in on Sundays between noon–4 p.m., and can move out on Sundays between 9:00 a.m.–noon. The weekly billing cycle begins at 12:00 p.m. every Sunday. If you move out after 12:00 p.m. Sunday, you will be charged for the entire week.

    What is the guest policy?
At this time, we expect to have interns to be able to have up to three guests/visitors.

Is there a penalty for canceling the lease or moving out early?
Yes. Interns are expected to adhere to their lease, and honor their contract in full. Additionally, subletting is not allowed.
