Description

The course will engage students in the basic principles of economics in order to foster an understanding of the global economy, public policy, and personal investment. Linking the global, public policy, and the personal in a course appropriate for art and design undergraduates, key topics covered in the course include: supply and demand, market equilibrium, labor markets, the division of labor, firm competition and monopoly, corporate social responsibility, international trade and ?trade wars,? income inequality, public finance and public choice, markets for insurance, investment and capital markets, externalities and property rights, regulation, prohibitions, and the tragedy of the commons.
