Faculty Member Eileen Favorite’s Class Profiled in the Chicago Tribune
After 20 years on the class schedule at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), one of Professor, Adj. Eileen Favorite’s (MFA 1999) classes is gaining attention in the headlines of the Chicago Tribune. Favorite’s class, titled Love the Art, Hate the Artist, has examined the careers of controversial artists—such as Pablo Picasso, Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, and many more—since 2001. Through interviews with Favorite and experiences sitting in on the class over three semesters, the Tribune explores how Love the Art, Hate the Artist—and its students—has evolved through landmark cultural shifts such as the #MeToo movement, the 2016 presidential election, and an era of social media “cancel culture.”
Eileen Favorite is a recipient of SAIC’s Karen and Jim Frank Excellence in Teaching Award for outstanding part-time faculty.
