Alum Julie Rodrigues Widholm Curates Frieze New York's Tribute to Women Artists of Chicago

Julie Rodrigues Widholm (MA 1999), DePaul Art Museum's director and chief curator and Chicago Tribune's Chicagoan of the Year in museums, is curating Frieze New York’s 2020 tribute to the women artists of Chicago. This year’s theme was inspired by the 100th anniversary of the ratification of women’s right to vote.

Artists selected by Widholm include several SAIC alums and faculty, such as Melissa Leandro (BFA 2012, MFA 2017), Gladys Nilsson (BFA 1962, HON 2016), Suellen Rocca (BFA 1964, HON 2016), Clare Rojas (MFA 2002), and Faith Wilding, professor emeritus of Performance. Their work will be featured in the first ever Frieze Viewing Room mobile app. Originally scheduled to open in New York City in early May, the exhibit was reimagined due to the pandemic. Those interested in viewing the over 200 virtual galleries are asked to register before the event free of charge. Once registered, virtual attendees may access the galleries from May 8–15, 2020.

For more information on how to register, visit the Frieze website.
