Chicago Tribune Names Julie Rodrigues Widholm Chicagoan of the Year in Museums

As the director of the DePaul Art Museum, Julie Rodrigues Widholm (MA 1999), is featured on the Chicago Tribune for her outstanding curatorial leadership. Since her tenure in 2015, Widholm has overseen the mounting of nine exhibitions a year. “For me, contemporary art in museum spaces became a space where international affairs and culture came together,” says Widholm in the article. Among the shows she curated, New Age, New Age: Strategies for Survival received praise from the press. Widholm states that in the fall 2020 season, the museum will launch a “multiyear Latinx initiative” that will bring to light its collection of Latinx and Latin American artworks.
